Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers to Face Off in First Round
The National Hockey League (NHL) today announced the schedule for the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs. The playoffs will begin on Saturday, May 30, with the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers facing off in the first round.
The Oilers and Panthers both finished the regular season with 108 points, but the Oilers won the tiebreaker to earn the higher seed. The Oilers will have home-ice advantage in the series.
The other first-round matchups are as follows:
- Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins
- Carolina Hurricanes vs. New York Rangers
- New York Islanders vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
- Washington Capitals vs. Philadelphia Flyers
- Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Columbus Blue Jackets
- Colorado Avalanche vs. St. Louis Blues
- Dallas Stars vs. Vegas Golden Knights
The playoffs will be a single-elimination tournament, with the winner of each series advancing to the next round. The Stanley Cup Finals will be played in June.
